Stuart Crookshank OBE - Chair of Trustees
Stuart has been a Trustee at West Heath almost since the beginning and is proud to be a part of its continuing success.
Stuart is now retired from his day job; he was a Customs Officer for over 39 years and also worked in the Charities Commission. In his spare time Stuart works as a River Bailiff. Stuart and his wife have lived near Tunbridge Wells for over 20 years and he very much looks forward to being part of the School’s continuing success story.

Glen Campbell - Health & Safety
Glen is a Correspondent for BBC TV Current Affairs & Documentaries. Working mainly on programmes like Inside Out and Panorama, he specialises in investigative journalism and home affairs issues. Not that he would care to repeat the experience, but one claim to fame he holds is being the first British journalist to be shot with the 50,000 volt Taser stun-gun whilst filming with the LAPD in Los Angeles.
Born and bred in Surrey and a proud product of the state education system he now lives just across the Kent border in Sussex, married with three young children.
Graeme Lawrie MBE - Staff Committee
Graeme is a qualified teacher and has been teaching for 24 years specialising in Technology, Computing, Electronics and Design. Starting his career at Oakham School in the midlands as a teacher and house parent in a boarding house, he moved to Sevenoaks School in Kent in 2006 to take on a Head of Department role. In 2009 he accepted the role of Head of Faculty for Science, developing the largest free Science event in the UK at the time, before progressing to the position of Director of Innovation and Excellence in 2012, which evolved into the role of Director of Outreach and Innovation in 2016.
Graeme has held several other roles during his teaching career: working for OCR, AQA and the IB authoring guides, exams and other materials, and a yearlong secondment at Buckingham palace as a ‘Special Advisor to HRH The Duke of York’ in 2015.
Graeme received the Lloyds trust teacher of the year in 2005, Pearson Teacher of the year in 2012 and was named by TES as one of the top 5 UK Science teachers in 2014. Graeme is passionate about social mobility and increased social capacity through education, and has worked with hundreds of schools, refugee camps and other charities over the last 10 years to give many opportunities to those in less fortunate circumstances. Outside of the school walls Graeme is a keen climber and motor sports enthusiast, spending most of his down time tinkering with engines, building robots or spending time with his two children Joe and Finn.
Leigh Harris - Finance Committee
Leigh is an architect by profession and now runs the family business which includes farm, forestry and property management. He has been a Trustee since May 2014 and serves on the Health & Safety Committee.
Leigh is married with two children and has lived on the outskirts of Tunbridge Wells for over 20 years. In his spare time, Leigh enjoys spending time with his family and competing in triathlons for his local club.
More recently, Leigh has represented Great Britain in the World Sprint Triathlon Championships in Mexico.
Pauline Knutton - Safeguarding and Student Services
Pauline started as a Teaching Assistant at the school not long after it first opened. At that time there were less than thirty students and half the school was unusable. Pauline developed along with the school is very proud to have played a part in improving the lives and opportunities of so many young people.
Now retired, Pauline is able to spend more time with her own children and grandchildren and has welcomed the opportunity to become involved with the school once more as a Trustee.
Nishka Smith - Finance Committee
Nishka is an accountant by profession and has worked in senior finance roles in both commerce and charity sectors. Committed to driving a positive social impact, she now works as a freelance consultant.
Nishka is married with a young daughter and in her spare time enjoys spending time with her family, travelling and when time allows it, running. She is passionate about the opportunity and freedom that education can provide and is proud to support West Heath as a member of the Trustee Board and Finance Committee.
Marina Housley - Staff Committee and Anti-Bullying Representative
Marina joined the Board of Trustees in December 2018. She is the Anti-Bullying contact and sits on the Staff Well being committee.
Marina is a member of the West Heath Old Girls Association having previously attended West Heath School, at which time it was a private all Girls school. Marina feels enormously privileged to be part of West Heath School in its current format, helping to drive the future of this exceptional school.
Marina works in the City and lives locally with her husband and two children. In her spare time she enjoys pottering around the garden with the invaluable assistance from her children and the dog.
