Basketball Match vs Brown's

"...played with great spirit and improving skill..."

On Wednesday afternoon the mixed KS3 and KS4 basketball team played with great spirit and improving skill in a match against Browns school.

West Heath came out on court looking very smart in their navy kit and with a positive attitude and desire to win. It started well and although Browns had a few early goals the team carried on with great determination and enthusiasm and scored a couple of baskets. As they settled into the game and started improving their teamwork and communication, they managed to pull back a couple more baskets. With some team changes being made to ensure everyone on the squad had a chance to take part the score was 20 – 8 to Browns at half time.

After a team talk at half time and some new strategies put in place the game continued. Browns had found their feet and with a few more goals by some experienced players they started to pull away but this did not stop West Heath from putting in 100% and showing great passion and enthusiasm.  The team carried on with an unwavering and gritty determination to get back a few points and did so with another basket.

As the clock was running out West Heath carried on changing the team and with improving team work and encouragement from the spectators they started to play really well but unfortunately couldn’t get those baskets that they desperately needed at the end of the game with the final score being 32 - 10.

Well done to all students who participated and represented the school. It was great game to watch and pleasing to see a growing and developing team put so much and hard work into the game.
