Language & Communication

The Language and Communication Team comprises one full time Speech and Language Therapist and two highly skilled Speech and Language Therapy Assistants. We support students to develop their speech, language and communication skills, and plan interventions according to the needs of each individual student. All the students in Key Stage 3 are included in language and communication groups, along with students in Key Stage 4 and Post 16 who will most benefit from the input.  Some students are provided with additional support from the team within the classroom context or in one-to-one or paired sessions targeting specific skills.

The Language and Communication Team work closely with teaching staff to ensure that students’ language and communication needs are met throughout the school day to enable the students to participate fully in Curriculum activities.
