The New School plays an important part in its local community; sharing with it various celebrations of its academic & other work and also its sports and other facilities.

We are always pleased to welcome celebrity guests to the school for presentation days to help us acknowledge our students' successes. Students have the opportunity to take part in many outings both as part of the curriculum and for recreation. The school’s Friends & neighbours are invited to the students’ drama & musical productions, dance displays, concerts and art exhibitions. We take pride in hosting events for senior citizens at Christmas & during the summer.

The school’s superb sports and other facilities are used extensively during the evenings, weekends and holidays by many clubs, schools and individuals. Over 50 organisations have used the sports centre with its multi-sport hall and indoor swimming pool. Its recently refurbished drama hall and historic dance studio is used by theatre & dance schools. The hall is also used by local charities for fundraising events, for Sevenoaks Festival concerts and by others including BBC Radio 4’s Any Questions? and TV’s Celebrity Come Dancing rehearsals. The grounds include cricket & football pitches which are also extensively used by local schools. The tennis courts are the base of the West Heath Tennis Centre, an LTA National Performance Centre.

Fundraising for others is a feature of student life and the charities and causes to be supported are decided by The Students’ Council. We encourage our students to raise money for charities as a way of furthering their awareness of the needs of others and to contribute to society. Currently we have developed a link with a school in Kenya; Kapsongchoi Primary School which involves fundraising on their behalf and e-mail exchange between students.

We are hoping to take several of our students on an overseas visit in the future to broaden their understanding of the wider community. If you feel you are able to make a donation to help our students make the trip please see our Friends & Fund Raising page on the website.
