Ready for the next step
Careers Education is delivered with the help of Connexions. Introductory visits from a member of their staff begin in year 7 and are a regular feature of the school’s careers education programme. Personal interviews are held in Key Stage 4. Our Connexions personal advisor also attends annual review meetings in years 9 and 11. Students also receive advice from their local Connexions advisor who is particularly knowledgeable about local opportunities for further education and employment.
Year 10 students also benefit from a work placement usually lasting a full week. This placement is carefully chosen in discussion with students and is monitored by a member of staff. It forms a valuable opportunity to provide students with insight into the skills required for the world of work. Sometimes this placement is extended when it is seen to be particularly useful and relevant.
