Parental Involvement
The Parent and Carer Group (PCG)
This group has been formed by, and for the parents and carers of children attending The New School at West Heath, to help, advise and support.
Every parent and carer faces the everyday challenges of bringing up children. Our children are very special and this often presents us with far greater challenges, issues and obstacles.
Before even reaching The New School many of us have had to cope with ignorance and even prejudice as to the needs of our children.
Maybe you would like to sit and talk with a group of people who understand the daily trials and tribulations of bringing up a very special child and who understands the pressures on both yourself, your family and your life.
We remember what it was like to persuade our children to give another school “one more try” with all the issues about taxis, review meetings and all the other anxieties starting a new school brings
In response to this need, some parents/carers have joined together to form a group to support each other on this often difficult journey.
The Parent and Carer Group Meetings
This group meets on the last Friday of the month during term time and has one meeting a term in the evening (subject to holidays).
There are two types of meeting:
A Closed Meeting where each attendee is bound by a pact of confidentiality; this is renewed at the opening of each session.
An Open Forum Meeting where we will invite a guest to talk to us about issues that affect us. Sometimes the meeting may be a mixture of the two.
